Lt. Gen. Robert Cone delivered the official press conference at Ft. Hood moments ago alerting us that shooter Hasan was shot, but is alive and stable. Over 100 witnesses, who were at the scene of this bloodshed, have been questioned and it appears Hasan is the only shooter. Cone expressed accolades for the first responders who “are trained as combat lifesavers.” He stated that “as horrible as this was, I think it could have been much worse” due to the “tremendous job” by the first responders.
Cone further reported the “FBI is on base” and the military will call in as much federal help they deem necessary. Cone feels the “evidence does not suggest” a terrorist attack, yet there is no evidence to suggest weaponry used by Hasan belongs to the military. What alarms me are two things: 1) why was he transferred to Ft. Hood after a poor performance review; and, 2) authorities were notified of Hasan’s very strong and open opinions yet he remained on base. Click here to read about it Shooter Hasan\’s Motive

I find it reprehensible that the Army didn’t take administrative action against major Hasan for his extreme views against our involvement in Iraq.
The extremist Arab sympathizer should be dealt with swiftly and fairly in our military ranks…
Charlie, you are so right. I guess a Major is pretty high up, but why don’t they have some kind of safeguard against wild cards like Hasan? Probably just because he is a doctor he is treated like a god. We need to open American medical schools for 3 shifts a day and triple the number of doctors so we will have more of them and then each one will not be so valuable because they are so scarce.
It is a most horrible disgrace that Hasan allegedly murdered 12 of our young men who now will never get to live a life. I wish that good swift revenge on him might console the grieving families.
