Our country has suffered a huge loss with today’s violence at Fort Hood, Texas, one of the largest U.S. military bases in the world, which is currently under lockdown – about 55,000 people spread over approximately 350 square miles cannot go anywhere.
A soldier, turned suspect, was killed today after he gunned down and murdered at least 12 fellow soldiers, and wounded 31 others. He has been identified as Major Malik Nadal Hasan, a Muslim born in Virginia. He was a single man with no children. According to his cousin, Nader Hasan, he joined the military straight out of high school and despite his family’s protest, was adamant about being in the military. Nader expressed shock at his cousin’s shooting spree since “he didn’t even enjoy going to the firing range.”
Suspect Hasan said that “Muslims should stand up and fight against the aggressor” said Col. Terry Lee (Ret.) who worked with the suspect. Col. Lee further reports that Hasan made his opinions “very well known.” Hasan was a 39 year old psychiatrist hired to HELP other soldiers, despite the fact he had a poor performance review. The military paid for his medical education and employed him at Walter Reed Hospital for six years. The big question is WHY WAS HE TRANSFERRED FROM WALTER REED TO FT. HOOD?
Hasan adamantly protested any deployments to Iraq and the region. According to Texas Senator, Kay Bailey Hutchison, he was targeting specific soldiers. The shooting began about 1:30 p.m., according to Lt. Gen. Bob Cone. Cone reports that all casualties took place at the base’s Soldier Readiness Center, where soldiers are about to be deployed, or, are returning to undergo medical screening.
It is a horrific, diabolical act to shoot and kill soldiers who have been fighting to protect us overseas; most of whom were already deployed to Iraq 3 to 4 times, only to return home and be executed by a fellow soldier. Hasan was assisted by at least two other gunmen who were swiftly apprehended and are in custody. Sadly, they too are military officers and I will update you once their identities are revealed. Please join me in keeping the victims and their families in our prayers. And may those injured soldiers heal fast and well!

I am very glad Major Hasan is alive and will recover so he can stand trial with his other officer cohorts. It is
hard for me to imagine why these extremists are allowed to remain in the Army when they clearly demonstrate
their aversion to our involvement in Iraq….
Alleged Murderer Hasan is a psychiatrist??? Another defective doctor. Doctors need more overseeing. Too many of them have too much power and doctors cannot be trusted.
Doctors have a basic “conspiracy of silence” and some kind of layman panel should be in charge of all of them.
I hear they REMOVED “First, do no harm” from the Hippocratic Oath. Which doctors without honor and like Hasan would ignore anyway.
