I am shocked this was not more widely covered by our media. Yesterday Israel´s navy seized a cargo ship intercepting 300 tons of weapons being smuggled from Iran to Lebanon´s Hezbollah guerrillas. This was one of the largest arms interceptions in Israel´s history of successfully curbing ammunition flow to militant Middle East guerillas.
The seizure included hundreds of dark green rockets, mortar shells and boxes of grenades and ammunition that were displayed on the dock in Israel´s port of Ashdod hours after the predawn naval operation in the Mediterranean Sea near Cyprus. Last night, Israeli forces were still unloading 40 containers reportedly found aboard the Antigua-flagged vessel, Francop, which remains under guard in the port. The weapons, include Grad-type Katyusha rockets, which were concealed beneath civilian goods in plastic material capable of fooling electronic scanners. Wow. I don’t understand why our own media ignored the vast significance of this interception and how many thousands of lives have most likely been saved as a direct result.

I did see a “blurp” on Fox news…but in my opinion this story wasn’t reported in full the way it should have been…and highlighting all the consequences of the ammunition actually getting into the wrong hands.
Israel is our friend and ally…someone we can count on if needed…very different from the French.
400 Tons? Sounds like enough to supply an army for a third world war. And yes, why have we not had better reporting?
Seems like the Anerican press is gone, and we only hear news that the corporations want us to hear, and then the same blurps over and over.
Seems like the bloggers are the real free press now in 2009.
Thanks, Janice, for your reporting.

Wow – I am really shocked this wasn’t more publicised, as you said. Thanks for reporting this to us.
