Also, I am not convinced that fire is required for germination. I have heard on a radio program from a university scientist in Colorado that there is a chemical in wood smoke that he used to induce germination in seeds recovered from Egyptian tombs which had lain entombed for centuries. But there are many rainy, wet areas without fires and seeds germinate. So I remain unconvinced.
