Howard K. Stern seems to be delaying the inevitable. Flanked by Anna Nicole Smith’s former psychiatrist, Dr. Christine Eroshevich, and defense attorneys J. Christopher Smith and Steven H. Sadow, Stern appeared in an L.A. courtroom Tuesday to request a continuation of his arraignment until May 13th at 8:30 a.m.
Meanwhile, criminal defense attorney, Mr. Sadow, accused California Attorney General Jerry Brown of orchestrating his client’s persecution to help Brown’s election chances in the 2010 governor’s race. Brown responded by labeling Sadow’s claim a “smoke and mirrors tactic.” Are the perpetrators of the Anna Nicole Smith saga going to clog our criminal courts now too.
More to come!

Houses, historic churches and other buildings were demolished in the worst quake to hit Italy in three decades when a 6.3 temblor struck near the historic, mountainous L’Aquilla region early Monday morning. Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi confirmed 207 people died, approximately 50 were missing and some 1,500 were injured. Subsequent aftershocks continue to wreak havoc, the most notable example being the destruction of two 18th century apartment buildings. We extend heartfelt condolences to those who were affected by this disaster.

Anna Nicole’s parents may reunite, but for a cause that’s not exactly honeymoon-worthy. Smith’s father, Donald Hogan, wants Virgie Arthur, Smith’s mother, to join him in a wrongful death suit against Howard K. Stern. Hogan, who was estranged from Smith for most of her life, claims monetary gain is not his objective. In a recent interview with E! News, the cowboy hat clad Hogan stated, “…personally, I don’t care if we get a dime out it. Not one dime….I think [Stern] made a lot of bad decisions in his life, and I think it’s fixin’ to come back and haunt him.” Hogan blames Stern for his daughters’ death and claims to seek justice in this wrongful death suit.

Yet another reminder of the caustic consequences gained by driving while intoxicated…last week we mentioned Cleveland Brown running back Donté Stallworth was suspected of drunk driving when he struck and killed a pedestrian in Florida. Recently it was determined that the NFL star’s blood alcohol level was .126, well above the state’s legal limit of .08.
Holding his mother’s hand, he walked out of a Miami-Dade County jail Thursday after being charged with DUI manslaughter and posting a $200,000 bond. He need not be present to enter a plea for his April 23rd arraignment date. If convicted, then he could face up to 15 years in prison. In the meantime, court documents stipulate Stallworth will be prohibited from driving while on bail and not allowed to drink alcohol. He also must observe a midnight to 6 a.m. curfew and submit to random alcohol and drug testing through the NFL’s substance abuse program. He is allowed to travel between Cleveland and Miami and must seek permission for any additional travel. The first half ends with the score: the state of Florida 7, Stallworth 0.
